A coworker pointed out that there was a very good deal going on at Amazon today. You could buy a 32" widescreen LCD HDTV for only $75 + $50 for shipping. These are usually $1,300! It was definately a pricing mistake, but there was always a chance they would actually ship me one. I figured, it was worth a shot, so I ordered it, and within a few minutes I had the confirmation email telling me the estimated ship and delivery dates.
Unfortunately it was too good to be true. I recieved the following email this evening:
Dear Customer, I regret to inform you that unauthorized persons having no connection with Amazon.com or Cape Cod Ventures have posted thousands of fraudulent listings under our Amazon.com Merchant Account. These listings typically displayed expensive items at prices far less than the actual price. These listings were posted without our consent or authorization. We are currently working with Amazon.com officials to remove these fraudulent listings. Unfortunately, all of the orders, including the one you placed, have been or soon will be cancelled. No charges to your credit card will be incurred. At no time was your credit card or any other personal information compromised as a result of this issue. On behalf of Cape Cod Ventures, please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused you in this matter.
