Rhino Hunt

I was excited when I heard about the rhino hunt at church on Sunday. They said there would be a hunt every week for the next month or so. I had always wanted to find the Rose Festival Medallion when I was younger, but it's pretty hard when you don't have a driver's license. This was my chance.  I checked the church's web site Sunday evening... nothing, and again when I woke up Monday morning...nothing. Then it was time for work.  I checked a few more times during the day, and finally about 2pm a post from the Living Hope Blog showed up in my aggregator. I had the first clue!!!

Past the Mill,
In between the Redwood and Sequoia,
Among a rock and a hard place.
The waterfall keeps me company.

Hmmmm.... What could that mean? A mill and some big trees? Sarah comes in and says "Mill could be Mill Plain!" "Great Idea Honey!" I fire up Google earth and look around. Sure enough, right at the East end of Mill Plain there are 2 streets, Redwood Cir, and Sequoia Cir. "That's got to be it!" I yell. "They have all of these little ponds around the business complex there." As soon as my last meeting for the day was over, we piled the kids in the minivan and took off toward Tech Center Drive. When we got there, I was glad to see that no one else appeared to be there yet. We parked and jumped out of the van to look around the first waterfall we saw. I had no idea how big the rhino was supposed to be so we looked everywhere... nothing. "This has to be the place. I sure hope no one else has been here already and found it."
Sarah got back in the van and drove down the road to find a parking spot near the next area and I walked. The next park area was a pond divided in half by a narrow spot with a bridge. As I got closer, sure enough, there is a waterfall on the other side of the bridge. I climbed down to the rocks and looked around. There, between some rocks, hidden from view from above, I saw something. I reached in and pulled it out. A plastic bag wrapped with duct tape. I removed the tape and bag and there it was! A. Rhino!!!   I had found it! Sarah was just coming back down the street. I held the rhino above my head triumphantly! "I found it!"... "We found it." Sarah corrects me. I gave her a big hug.
To top it off, Monday was my birthday, what more could I ask for?
